Fil-Am BMX cyclist Caluag to compete in Olympics

Filipino_American cyclist Daniel Caluag is the eight member of the Team Philippines that will compete in the Olympic Games on July 2012.

The 25-year-old Caluag, the son of a Filipino couple from Bulacan who migrated to the US many years ago, earned enough ranking points in three tough qualifying tournaments and emerged as the only Asian to clinch an Olympic berth in the BMX event.

The seven other Filipino athletes who qualified in the London Olympic Games are boxer Mark Anthony Barriga, swimmers Jessie King Lacuna and Jasmine Alkhaldi, judoka Tomohiko Hoshina, skeet shooter Brian Rosario, long jumper Marestella Torrres and steeplechaser Rene Herrera.
