Filipino boxer Mark Anthony Barriga emerged victorious against Italian foe Manuel Cappai of Italy, 17-7, making him to move safely into the final 16 of Men's light flyweight division of the boxing competition in London Olympic games.
In the first round, Barriga was effective as a counter-puncher that forced the referee to give Manuel Cappai a standing eight count in the final 15 seconds. The second round saw Barriga pad his lead, even with Cappai hooking and locking the Filipino's right hand to win anew, 4-2.
The final round was all about Barriga, who scored 8-3 to complete his domination against the Italian boxer.
Barriga now faces Kazakhstan's Birzhan Zhakypov, who edged out France's Jeremy Baccu, 18-7.
The Filipino gets a four-day rest before meeting his Kazakhstani foe-- which will be on Saturday, 8:45 pm, Manila time.
